BELUGA

Northwest Territories

Kendall Island is one of the most northern land masses of the MacKenzie Delta, on the edge of the Beaufort Sea.  About a 250 km boat ride from Inuvik, the waters around Kendall Island are home to beluga whales for about 6 weeks every summer as they migrate through Northern waters.  The islands along this stretch of coast are dotted with camps belonging to families who still partake in the whale harvests.  Hank and Sarah have been coming to their whale camp since they were young, and share this sheltered cove with friends.
